About Wayne

Wayne R. McDonough has been a trial lawyer and general practitioner in Vero Beach, Florida for over 25 years.

Wayne R. McDonough was born in New York City and raised in Texas. He was a construction worker before earning a B.A. degree with Honors from the University of South Florida. Wayne graduated with Honors from the University of Arkansas School of Law. He was a member of the Arkansas Law Review which is limited to the top 10% of law school graduates.

Wayne R. McDonough has been a trial lawyer and general practitioner in Vero Beach, Florida for over 25 years. His law practice includes criminal law, family law, divorce, personal injury, general civil litigation, trial practice, mediation and appeals. He has handled numerous civil and criminal appeals and presented oral arguments before the Fourth District Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Florida, and the United States Federal Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. Mr. McDonough has been a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family and Civil Mediator for over ten (10) years. He mediates all types of civil cases, divorce and family related matters. Wayne is licensed to practice law in all State courts in the State of Florida, the United States Federal District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and the United States Federal Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. Mr. McDonough was general counsel to the Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County, Inc. for over twenty-five (25) years. His counsel to the Humane Society included prosecuting civil animal cruelty and neglect cases. He has represented national animal rights organizations including the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and the American Humane Association. Mr. McDonough sued the State of Florida on behalf of HSUS for failure to enforce laws relating to the horse racing industry. He has testified before Congress on animal related matters. He was the recipient of the 1989 Humane Society Humanitarian Award and a Legal Aid Pro Bono award for the 19th Judicial Circuit, State of Florida.

Wayne has represented other non-profit organizations including the Youth Guidance Volunteer Program in Vero Beach, FL and numerous Veteran's organizations including the Vietnam and All Veterans of Brevard, Inc., Indian River County Veterans Council and the Vero Beach Veterans, Inc.

Mr. McDonough is a former member of the Children's Service Advisory Council of Indian River County, FL and of the Board of Directors of the Economic Opportunities Council of Indian River County, FL. He was the Chairman of the Veteran's Assistance Program of the Vietnam and all Veterans of Brevard, Inc., which supervises a successful homeless shelter for veterans and their dependents.

Wayne is a member of the Florida Bar Association, Indian River County Bar Association, Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and Vietnam and all Veterans of Brevard, Inc.

Mr. McDonough is a Marine, Vietnam combat Veteran. He was a forward air observer/field radio operator attached to a Marine line company during his combat tour of duty in Vietnam.
